Our Story

A. Zorbas and Sons Ltd was founded in Athienou on the 1st of October 1975 by Mr. Andreas Zorbas. In 22/11/1979 it was established as a Limited Company with main activity the production and sales of bakery products.

In 1988 after a continuous success and the positive response from the consuming public the company extended in the province of Nicosia.

On 9th of March 2000 Zorbas Bakeries went public. From the 27th of December 2000 until the 31st of October 2012 the company was listed on the Cyprus Stock Market.

Group Activities 

The main activity of the company is the production, distribution and sale of fresh pastry and confectionery products. As the time passes the Company grew and transformed into a Group of Companies.

The Group extended its activities by providing through Zorbas Bakeries homemade like cooked food (Magerio), including production and sales of salads, sandwiches and pizza prepared with top quality and fresh ingredients. Zorbas Bakeries also serve finest coffee, beverages and fresh juices from Coffee Berry.

In addition, the Zorbas Group includes the most distinguished catering services (Zorbas Catering) which are composed by experienced catering consultants, specialized chefs and highly trained staff. The excellent infrastructure and contemporary technological equipment, together with the passion for exceptional food and high aesthetics; guarantee the success of each and every event.

Our love for the art of French pastry, led Pralina Confectioneries to come into the family of Group. Small pastry boutiques that offer astonishing tastes both in Nicosia and Limassol.

In Limassol, Pralina Confectioneries offer breakfast with the accompaniment of a unique coffee from highly trained barista, as well as, special gastronomy creations for lunch and/or dinner by qualified chefs. To round off your meals there is a fine selection of wines to try.

First store in New York

The Group has been on a successful exporting journey over the past years. On December, 2015 the Group set its wings abroad and opened the first store in New York, under the name the French Workshop.

It is a French artisan bakery featuring an assortment of Pralina Confectioneries desserts, traditional French breads, pastries and cakes. All ingredients of high quality and freshness.

An innovative concept, with comfortable atmosphere and artistic interior design that consumers welcomed warmly and enthusiastically.

A.Zorbas & sons Ltd. , committed to its promise for offering quality food, has brought in Kapari area in Protaras, a value for money Asian restaurant. Akai is an alternative choice for quick, good quality food in the area of Protaras. A modern space, with unique minimal interior, that was inspired from the Asian art of cutting and folding paper, Kirigami, with an open kitchen in which Asian gastronomic treasures are prepared every day. Unique dishes that will awake your instincts and please all your senses.

Coffee Berry

A collaboration that resulted from the need of offering constant quality coffee, with modern production methods. Utilizing the experience and expertise of Coffee berry, the group brought in the Bakeries a unique coffee to go concept, which is totally based on the principles of 3rd wave coffee and contemporary daily consumer needs. An Impressive cafe station that attracts attention and exclusive coffee varieties from destinations like Kenya and Panama, hot or cold drinks, selected varieties of teas, fresh juices and sorbets.

Social Responsibility

Furthermore, the social responsibility is one of the most important company values. Since May 2010, the MAZI Foundation, foundation for eating disorders and obesity, has begun its operations. The foundation operates under the company’s umbrella of Corporate Social Responsibility.

MAZI aims to inform, educate and train the public on eating disorders and obesity, as well as to undertake scientific and research projects concerning the citizens’ health.

More than 40 years together

With a more than 40 years successful course and by achieving a very fast growth, the small bakery in Athienou transformed into a Group of Companies and until today is still based on the same human approach and values as the ones had in the beginning.

The human resource of Zorbas Group of Companies, has been a decisive factor for its growth and today amounts to more than 2100 individuals.

The company today has 61 stores all over Cyprus 29 in Nicosia, 13 in Limassol, 9 in Larnaca, 5 in Papho, 4 in Famagusta, one in New York and three production units in Aradippou and Nisou Industrial Area, equipped with the latest of technology.
